The LiveStrong 13 OT:
Ohiyo! The Sensei’s got a good one for you today. Here we go with the Livestrong 13 OT Treadmill!
Okay, so the appearance of this treadmill is beautiful enough to suck in most of us impulse buyers. As far as aesthetics go, this is one of the best designed treadmills out there. Being lured in by a treadmill’s outer appearance (or anything else for that matter) is usually something you should watch out for. However, in this case, after taking a moment to see if there is anything good under the skin, you might realize, that it’s not such a bad idea after all. The beauty of this machine seems to be on both the outside and the inside.
Let’s peel that skin back and take a look. The motor is a 3.0 CHP (continuous-duty). There are better motors out there on high end treadmills, but not a lot. This one will provide sufficient power for almost any runner. The Livestrong motors are known for their reliability, and lifetime warranty. The max speed is 12 MPH. This is as fast as you’ll find anywhere. The user limit is 350 pounds, with that strength you won’t need to worry about breaking the deck. The max incline is 14%, the average max incline of treadmills is between 6% – 15%, so this one is very good. The running belt is 20″ x 60″, the largest size around. I’ve seen one here and there with a 22″ width, but they are few and far between. Overall this treadmill is at the top in almost all of the main features. It is currently the best Livestrong treadmill, and also their most expensive. Yet at $1,300 the price is very competitive compared to other brands offering similar quality.
Now let’s take a look at the huge list of unique extra features it’s got.
- -Wireless heart rate monitoring with chest strap and integrated contact grips
- -Heavy-duty, folding frame with lifetime warranty
- -Workout Tracking with Livetrack Fitness Journal
- -Cool Fit Fitness Fan
- -LIVETRACK Interactive™ technology speakers with MP3/iPod™ compatibility
- -Max Comfort cushioning system
- -14 training programs
- -Warranty: Lifetime motor and frame, 5-year parts, 2-year in-home labor
- -Fold-up space-saving design
- -Quick Start and stop buttons
- -handlebar speed and incline adjusters
The Training Programs and Fitness Journal are a very appreciated feature. Research shows that runners who track their exercise and use fitness programs continue to work out longer and more consistently than those who don’t. The user-friendliness of the console and the speakers and fan are a nice touch to keep you entertained and comfortable while you run. All in all, I was impressed with this treadmill in the big things, in the little things, on the outside, and on the inside. Price included. Johnson, the company who makes these treadmills gets a round of applause from me for this one.
