The Commercial 2150, king of the commercial series, steps off its high horse to grace us with its amazing specs and now affordable price. Find the king for under $1,800!

The 2150 uses a powerhouse 3.8 CHP motor that can support even the most hefty ninja. This most hefty ninja remains quiet in his hard training due to the Quadflex Plus cushioning which lowers runner’s impact, covers the entire 20″ x 60″, and adds to his comfort. To add more challenge the 2150 can incline up to 15% , decline down to -3%, and run you through a personalized training workout. One of the best parts of this now affordable luxury treadmill is its connection to iFit Live. My trusty big-boned ninja-apprentice practices his crash course in Hawaii from this treadmill everyday. You can too. Run anywhere in the world using iFit Live and train your ninja ways from the comfort of your own home. The 10″ full-color touch screen is complete with an Android powered browser so you can keep tabs on your Facebook rivals anytime during training.

Here we are! The long awaited announcement of the official best buy winners!

These are the winners of treadmills between $1000 – $2000:

#1: Proform Performance 1450

The Performance 1450 is certainly one of the most popular treadmills of proform’s history, and perhaps of all treadmill history. The treadmill, when it came out it was ahead of its time with its features, the engine design, and the low price. It has been out for some time now, and has proven itself as a extremely high seller, and has left its customers happy and complaint free.

Get a discount on this treadmill

#2: Nordictrack Elite 9500 Pro

The Nordictrack Elite 9500 pro is just a hair under the Performacne 1450. If it was much cheaper it would easily take the best buys for this price range. The treadmill offers not only the best features around, like it’s 10″ touch screen web browser with Ifit built in, but also and exceptionally large motor, overall strength, smoothness, and quietness. It’s just hard to beat.

Get a discount on this treadmill

#3: Sole F85

Sole has kept these same treadmills around for a long time now, but for good reason. They are still making it into best buys right and left because of their noteable sturdiness and durability. The quality of Soles combined with their excellent care and warranties makes them an excellent choice, despite their few features and functions. It is one of the most problem-free treadmills out there.

Here we are! The long awaited announcement of the official best buy winners!

These are the winners of treadmills under $1000:

#1: Nordictrack C900

Earning a spot at the #1 best buys is a big deal, but the Nordictrack C900 deserves its place there. The treadmill has an excellent reputation with durability, and performance. It is one of the highest sold treadmills of Nordictrack, and with good reason. One of the most solid treadmills for under $1000 you’ll ever see.

Get a discount on this treadmill

#2: Proform Power 995

The Proform Power 995 comes close to the top because of its exceptional specs and overall quality. This treadmill offers things you normally only see on more expensive models. If it only had a larger motor, it would likely be at the top of the list. However, with everything else it offers, it’s landed itself on the #2 of the best buys!

Get a discount on this treadmill

#3: Sole F65

The Sole F65 made it to these best buys mainly because it’s a Sole, and that means excellent quality, strength, durability, and customer care. The actual specs of the machine at first glance don’t even look that great, but the quality of the overall machine more than compensates for those things–enough even to make it all the way to #3 of the best buys.

Our final competitors for the best buy treadmill in the $1000 to $2000 class are going to be the Nordictrack Elite 9500 and the Sole F85.

Here we are at the final round of the best buys for the middle class. The $1000 to $2000 range is a very competitive market, and a lot of companies push hard to get their treadmills to be good enough to take some of the market share in this price range. Sole, Smooth, Nordictrack, and Proform seem to be some of the hardest pushers, and it is noticeable in their treadmills. The improvements over the past few years have been great.

The Nordictrack Elite 9500 Pro is nothing new. It has been around for a few years now, and has quite a legacy of making its customers happy. It is near the top of the Nordictrack treadmills at full price, but it’s often on sale for much less. The Elite 9500 Pro combines good quality, strong parts, impressive specs, excellent features, and a reasonable price. I suppose that pretty much sums up why it’s such a high seller, and has such good reviews and rankings.

The Sole F85 is another top of the line model by Sole. It’s the top seller of Sole, and one of their most expensive unit. The F in its name stands for Folding. For a folding treadmill, this is solid as they come. It stands strong and runs very silently. When you run on it you hardly hear the foot steps because of the solid deck as well as the excellent cushioning. The weight capacity on this treadmill is rated at 400 lbs making it one of the strongest units in the market at this price.

The motor size of the Elite 9500 is a massive 3.8 motor which operates quietly and will likely last forever. The Sole has a 3.5 CHP motor which is very standard for treadmills over $1200. The treadbelt size is extra large on both of them measuring 22″ x 60″, both of them having a strong 2-ply belt.

Both treadmills have great strengths and small weaknesses, but where the Elite 9500 Pro takes over is in features. Sole treadmills are a little bare in that area, even on their high-end models. Check out the specs below to weigh out the differences in features.

Here’s a little comparison table:
Weaker specs are shaded out.

Elite 9500 Pro

3.5 CHP motor

400 lb weight capacity

22″ x 60″ 2-ply treadbelt

Cushion Flex cushioning

No Ifit

Blue backlit display

fan, music port, speakers

lifetime frame and motor

5 year parts, 2 year labor

Both are great treadmills, both will prove to be very durable, and will be able to stand up to pretty much any beating you give it. The Sole, might be a bit stronger, but the Elite offers more power, functionality, and features. Both are exceptional treadmills for the price, and both earn a spot in the best buys for the year! The Elite taking the lead over the Sole.

In the ring today is the Proform Power 995 and the Sole F63.

This a best buy Grand Finale!! We’re down to our last 2 treadmills for the budget sub $1000 class. Both are very popular and have a lot of perks. They are priced the same on sale at $999.

The Proform Power 995 is furnished with a 3.0 CHP motor. The quiet, yet strong and durable motor is built to keep itself cool, and not burnout or explode no matter how hard or long you run on it. Many treadmills at this price have a feel of fragility and tend to feel that you’re working them too hard after a good intense run. Not so with the Power 995. The motor is designed to be quiet and problem free for as long as possible, and hold up under extreme use. While it isn’t as large as some of the 3.5 chp motors of some of the more expensive ones, it is still a very impressive motor.

The Sole F63 has a 2.5 chp motor which at first glance is a bit of a turnoff, but at closer look, while still a little puny, is not as unimpressive as you might have initially thought. It operates with just a low hum, with RPMs that are decently low and quiet. The lifetime warranty helps also.

When it comes to specification measurements, the Proform takes an apparent lead. The belt area on the Proform is a full length 20″ x 60″ compared to the Sole’s 20″ x 55″. Those extra 5″ inches can make a noticeable difference, especially for tall people. The Sole’s treadbelt is a bit more solid as it is a double ply. The weight capacity is the same for both. 325 lbs is a decent weight capacity. If you like to run intense runs and you’re pretty heavy, there are stronger treadmills. However, if you’re light, or if you don’t run extremely hard, the deck will hold up okay for either of them.

If you compare the quality, Sole’s have a better reputation than Proforms for holding up longer. However, with the improvements that Proform has been putting into their machines as of late, that quality gap may be about closed. The cushioning on the proform is Proshox Elite 2, which uses air cushioning to soften your landing. The Sole uses shock absorption that works, but isn’t quite as comfortable as the Proform’s. Check out the specs below to see more details.

Here’s a little comparison table:

Proform Power 995

3.0 CHP motor

20″ x 60″ treadbelt

325 lb weight capacity

12MPH

15% incline

Proshox Elite 2 cushioning

Ifit Live compatible

Multiwindow LED display

Fan and Heart Rate

Music Port with built in speakers

Fold up design

Lifetime Frame and Motor

3 year parts, 1 year labor

Sole F63

2.5 CHP motor

20″ x 55″ treadbelt

325 lb weight capacity

12MPH

15% incline

shock absorption cushioning

No Ifit

Large LCD screen

Fan and Heart Rate

Music Port with built in speakers

Fold up design

Lifetime Frame and Motor

3 year parts, 1 year labor

Well, both of these treadmills beat all of the others in the price range. Both of them win a best buy position, but out of the two the Proform offers more for the cost, and so it earns its place as #1 in the best buys for the year!

The Proform Power 995 is officially the sub $1000 best buy because of its low cost, impressive performance, and awesome specs. The Sole F63 comes in second. congratulations to both.

In the ring today is the Nordictrack A2750 Pro against the Nordictrack C900 Pro.

OHIYO! It’s been a while. There are reasons I haven’t been able to post in here for a few weeks, but I’ll have to explain later. There’s no time today. The Best Buy Tournament is coming close to its end, and after comparing the A2750 Pro and the C900, we’ll have it narrowed down to just a few more.

The A2750 Pro is a few hundred dollars cheaper than the C900, so we’re going to determine if it’s worth the price increase to buy the C900 or if it’s more worth your money to just stick with the A2750.

The C900 is a very hard model to beat in its price class. It is one of the top selling treadmills of Nordictrack, well above the A2750 pro. Some of the reasons for its success are its deck and frame fortitude, its motor force, its solidness and stability, its silence, and its long list of enthralling features. For $999 you get a treadmill with a healthy 3.0 CHP motor, that can spit out a workout at max speed for hours without clamming up or complaining. The 350 lb weight capacity shows the true backbone of this model, implying its durability and capacity to hold up over time. To go along with that, the warranty offers a bit of extra confidence, granting a lifetime warranty for the motor and frame, and 3 years for the parts, and 1 year of in home labor.

The a2750 Pro appears doesn’t quite have the resume of the C900, but it does have some nice strengths to lay on the table. It actually almost has the same strength as the C900. It is designed with a steel frame and an almost unbreakable deck that can hold up 350 lbs as well. While you would likely notice, if you had the chance to run on both, that the Nordictrack A2750 Pro doesn’t quite feel as firm, steadfast, and immovable as the C900, but regardless, it still has the same weight capacity rating. The motor is a 2.75 CHP motor which is borderline on my comfort level.

Although the CHP rating doesn’t mean everything, it does mean a lot, and a smaller motor has to work harder, which equals faster wear, and less durability. However, if it’s well built, a 2.75 CHP motor can easily outperform a poorly built 3.5 CHP motor. That is why you can’t just look at the CHP and go with it, every treadmill has a different feel actual strength. If you are buying online, you’ll want to be sure to read online reviews about it like this to make sure it’s not going to fall apart on you. The A2750 motor is well designed and built which allows me to recommend it. One of the main turnoffs to the Nordictrack A2750 Pro is its short warranty on parts and labor. The motor and frame have the standard lifetime warranty, but the parts and labor are only covered for one year, which means if you get this, you will want to be very gentle with it.

Other than those main things the treadbelt is bigger on the C900 than the A2750, the C900 has a better console, and a few extra features, but not much else is different. Check out the specs below.

Here’s a little comparison table:

Nordictrack C900 Pro

350 lb weight limit

3 year parts, 1 year labor

When all is said and done, it definitely makes sense to spend the extra $200 dollars and buy the C900. If you absolutely can’t afford the extra then the A2750 pro wouldn’t be a bad choice for its price either.

The treadmills in our sights today are the Proform Performance 1450 and the Smooth 7.35.

We’ve seen these treadmills several times by now, but they have both earned to be checked out again. Only this time they’re going to be pitted up against eachother, and one’s going to come out on top.

Both of these treadmills are extremely well built and well priced, which is what has gotten them this far. Both of them are priced right around $1500, which is a very competitive price range in the treadmill industry. The Smooth 7.35 follows a pattern that Smooth likes to implement into their treadmills, in that it’s a cut above the norm in almost every specification. Smooth has a knack to go the extra mile anywhere they can, which has really paid off for them in the long run by keeping them in good business while so many other companies are dropping like flies.

Some of the areas the Smooth 7.35 excels at are the quietness, the solidness, the durability, and the warranty. The specs themselves don’t look overwhelmingly impressive. The motor is a simple 3.5 CHP with quite a bit of power, the treadmill can hold up to 350 lbs which is a very average amount. The deck is an extra 2″ long coming in at 20″ x 62″. Other than that it’s pretty much a normal treadmill with all the regular specs and features that smooth puts on their other machines.

The Proform Performance 1450 gets its fame from its great list of features and extras. The specs aren’t much better than average. It’s got a strong 3.25 CHP motor, and a 350 lb weight capacity.

Here’s a little comparison table:

Proform Performance 1450

350 lb weight capacity

Fold up design

No Ifit

Lifetime Frame and Motor

7 year parts, 2 year labor

It’s a very close competition between these two, but the Proform Performance 1450 offers a bit more than the Smooth and so it’s going to take the lead in this one. Congratulations proform.

The treadmills for comparison today are the Smooth 9.45ST and the Nordictrack Elite 9700 Pro.

The two treadmills we have today are in quite different price ranges, but we’re still going to compare them, for several reasons. The 9.45ST has been a Best buy winner several times in its lifetime, and the Nordictrack Elite 9700 Pro is one of the top sellers for the price range it’s in.

The Smooth’s motor is by no means up to compete with the Nordictrack’s. The Smooth 9.45ST has a exceptionally quiet 3.0 CHP motor. It is sufficient for most uses, but if you want a bigger motor it’s not hard to find larger ones at this price range. At $1999 you can sometimes find some as big as 3.8 CHP. But if you’re not too concerned with a huge motor, then the rest of this treadmill will be appealing to you. The Nordictrack has a gigantic 4.0 CHP motor which is enough to power Goliath for his daily run. So as far as motors go, the Elite 9700 Pro takes the lead by far. The price of the Elite 9700 pro is $3,299, and that’s one of the biggest advantages it has over the Smooth. So, if the larger motor is worth the extra $1,300 to you, you won’t regret getting it. But if it’s not that important to you, then you’ll be okay with the Smooth’s 3.0 CHP motor.

The user weight limit is an incredible 400 lbs on the Smooth 9.45 ST. That kind of strength is well above average for this price, and makes this a very enticing treadmill. It is very solid and grounded and doesn’t shake hardly at all. The cushioning works great to make this a very comfortably solid and quiet treadmill overall. The treadbelt is a full length 20″ x 60″ running area, the incline can reach up to 15% and the speed can reach up to 11.2 MPH. Got all that?

The Nordictrack is better, yes. That’s not the question here though. We’re seeing if it’s worth the $1,300 price jump. The Nordictrack has a much larger motor, which we’ve already discussed. The treadmill as a whole is actually somewhat less stable than the Smooth. The weight limit is 375lbs (not as strong as the Smooth’s). The fact that it’s a fold up treadmill is one of the main reasons for that. Most fold up treadmills are less solid than non-folding treadmills like the Smooth.

As far as features go, the Nordictrack shines. It has a wonderful 10″ touch screen web broswer display with Ifit Live and google Maps built right in. The console is slick and easy to use, and has the convenient 1 touch speed and incline. They both have an Ipod/MP3 connection with speakers. Check out the specs below to see all the stuff on it.

Here’s a little comparison table:

Smooth 9.45ST

3.0 CHP motor

400 lb weight capacity

Cooling Fan

Ipod/Mp3 hookup w/ speakers

Impression Shock absorption

No Ifit

lifetime frame and motor

Lifetime Parts, 2 year labor

Nordictrack Elite 9700 Pro

4.0 CHP motor

375 lb weight capacity

22″ x 60″ belt

12MPH

15% Incline

34 workout programs

fold-up

Cooling Fan

Ipod/Mp3 hookup w/ speakers

Quadflex Cushioning

Ifit

lifetime frame and motor

7 year Parts, 2 year labor

It’s a hard comparison, but although the Nordictrack offers more, it’s offer isn’t quite as impressive at it’s price range as the Smooth’s The Lifetime parts warranty on the smooth also gives the smooth 9.45ST a good edge over the Nordictrack. Congratulations Smooth, you win..Again.

Our treadmills today are the Freemotion 750 Interactive and the Nordictrack Commercial 1750.

Hello everybody. I’m back with a lot to share. It’s been a few days since the last post here. Since then Nordictrack has come out with a few new models. I’m not going to include them in this best buy tournament, but they’re worth checking out. I’ll be writing reviews for them soon.

As for these 2 treadmills, they are some of the best treadmills you’ll find in this middle price range. The Freemotion is a bit cheaper at $1,299 than the Nordictrack Commercial 1750 at $1,499. So we’ll try to cut a little slack for the Freemotion.

The Freemotion 750 Interactive has beat all of the other freemotions mainly because of it’s low price, and impressive specs (I suppose that’s the only reason any treadmill trumps another). The motor is a satisfying 3.25 CHP engine with power and strength enough to power almost any size runner at the full 12MPH, or at the low .5 MPH without sounding like it’s going to explode. The weight capacity is an impressive 350 lbs which gives this treadmill a strong and solid feel, as well as an almost unbreakable deck. The cushioning on the deck is Freemotion’s Surface Response Suspension. It’s a comfortable cushioning system. These are basically the cookie-cutter specs that you’ll see on most average to high quality treadmills. The incline is 15%, and the speed reaches 12MPH.

The Nordictrack Commercial 1750 has almost the exact same main specs. A more powerful 3.5 CHP motor, a strong 350 lb weight limit, a 20″ x 60″ 2 ply belt, 15% incline, 12MPH speed, etc. The same cookie-cutter specs as the Freemotion. If you’re spending over $1500 these should be a standard and a minimum. Since both of these treadmills are under that, you can feel good that you’re getting a good deal. The quadflex cushioning is 4 springs on both sides of the deck that act like shocks to give the deck a bit of give when you land. It’s a bit different method than the Freemotion uses, but feels a bit better to most users.

The features of the Nordictrack are a little better. The Nordictrack has a snazzy full color touch screen display and has Ifit Live built in. The Freemotion has a backlit display with Ifit Compatibility which means you have to get it separately. Both are fold up with the easy lift assist feature, both have plenty of built workouts to play on. The Nordictrack has a fan that the Freemotion doesn’t.

Here’s a little comparison table:

Freemotion 750 Interactive

3.25 CHP motor

350 lb weight capacity

Ifit Live

24 built in workouts

Ipod/Mp3 port w/ speakers

Lifetime Frame and motor

5 year parts, 2 year labor

Nordictrack Commercial 1750

3.5 CHP motor

350 lb weight capacity

20″ x 60″ treadbelt

-3% decline to 15% incline

12MPH

Quadflex Cushioning

Foldup w/Easy lift assist

7″ Full color Touch screen

Ifit Live – Built in

30 built in workouts

Ipod/Mp3 port w/ speakers

Lifetime Frame and motor

5 year parts, 2 year labor

Because these two treadmills are so similar, I’m going to have to give it up to the Freemotion 750 interactive for being $200 cheaper. If the touch screen, and extra .25 HP in the motor are worth that extra $200, then go for it, but the Freemotion 750 interactive is a better overall value for the price. Congratulations Freemotion, you win!
