Proform Performance 900The Livestrong 8.0T

Today we’re going to review the Livestrong 8.0T Treadmill. A lot of people are looking for low cost, low-end treadmills these days. This can be dangerous because you may likely end up spending more in the long run than you would with a more expensive treadmill. However, there are halfway decent treadmills out there for under $1000 bucks, you just have to be careful about which one you pick, and how you treat it and maintain it. Alright? So let’s take a look.

The Livestrong 8.0 T is the lightest and least expensive treadmill in the livestrong line-up which consists of a total of 3 treadmills. The other 2 currently being the 10.0T and the 13.0T both of which are a bit more robust. So the question is, which, in the long run would be the most cost effective? The answer? I don’t know. Sorry. You’ll just have to pick the one you like best. The main design of all these treadmills are very similar. The bigger ones are given more power and strength, but if you’re a light runner, and take care of your treadmills, this lighter one could very well last you as long as either of the others.

The Livestrong 8.0T has a medium sized engine with 2.5 Continuous Duty Horsepower. The engine is quiet and is made of quality parts, and seems to operate very well. It also has an industry standard lifetime warranty on it, so, while it may be a headache, you can get it replaced for free if it ever breaks down. Also, the frame should hold up just fine. It’s better to have a welded frame than a frame full of nuts and bolts holding it together. However, you don’t get to welded frames until you slap on another few thousand dollars to your budget. So if this is your budget, nuts and bolts will just have to do. The thing you want to watch out for is if it rattles or shakes, or just doesn’t feel solid and stable. Over time the bolts may loosen and you’ll have to tighten them, but if it already rattles brand new, it’s going to be very annoying, and it will probably break apart pretty quick.

There isn’t really any special feature worth mentioning. This is a pretty standard and basic treadmill. Livestrong models are quiet and smooth, and that’s worth mentioning. The console is a slick design and shows the usual speed, distance, calories, and all that jazz. The heart rate sensors are on little handles off the console. There’s a fan to keep you cool, an mp3/ipod port, built-in speakers, and adjustable cushioning. Slide the cushioning sliders tot he front for more firmness, or to the back for more cushion. The user weight limit is 325 lbs, so if you’re a real big person, I suggest getting a stronger machine.

Here’s the specs in a list:

  • 2.5 HP motor
  • 325 lbs max weight
  • 12MPH
  • 12% Incline
  • 20″ x 55″ running belt
  • Dual Grip Heart Rate Sensors
  • Adjustable Cushioning
  • Workout Fan
  • Ipod/Mp3 port
  • Built-in Speakers

If you’re a big person, you may want to hop to a larger model, but if you’re lightweight, this machine should hold up without too much problem. The features are pretty basic, but the price is low. So if this is your budget, this is a halfway decent budget treadmill that should last you. The warranty will last for life on the Motor and Frame, and 2 years for parts, and 1 year for labor. Good luck shopping.

About My Treadmill Reviews

TreadmillMy treadmill reviews are both subjective and objective. They are objective in the sense that I will provide you with information about each machine, such as motor, weight capacity and other features. But they are subjective in the sense that I am really giving my opinion of each treadmill. You may agree or disagree with my opinion, but my hope is that my elliptical and treadmill reviews can be helpful to you in making a decision on what to buy. Remember that each review is just what I think. You can always check out Treadmill Doctor, Treadmill Review Guru or these other treadmill reviews if you want another opinion.
