The NordicTrack Reflex 4500 Pro
Top of the morning to you in Hawaii! To anyone else, good afternoon, good evening, or good night.
The machine I’m going to review to day is the Nordictrack Reflex 4500 Pro. A while back I reviewed the Reflex 8500, but that’s out of stock right now, and I really do like these reflex machines, so I used that as an excuse to write another about this one. Although they’re almost identical, there are a enough differences to make them worthy of each having their own reviews.
You can agree with me or not, but after running on one of NordicTrack’s Reflex treadmills, I just fell in love with it. There’s no cushioining/springing deck like it out there. While the treadmill itself (motor, frame, console, specs, and other stuff) is average to decent, the deck is absolutely fantastic. If I could put this deck on a $10,000 dollar Star Trac treadmill, that would be the treadmill I bring home. But..to do that would require someone with a lot of treadmill know how…well, now that I mention it…I’ll let you know how that goes.
Anyway, the deck is a springboard type composite material meant to be strong enough to carry the Hulk, yet still flexible enough to absorb the impact upon landing, and spring the back foot up a little when you lift it off the board. If you’ve ever run on a gymnastics tumbling floor, it feels a little like that. Except better yet.
Now…for the Treadmill: They gave it some pretty cool features and some decent parts. The Motor is a full 3.0 Horsepower, built with a good drive system that keeps the RPMs low, and with the light belt, shouldn’t ever have any problems. The frame is strong. Frames usually have a lifetime warranty on them, and they’re usually not among the parts that break. The thing you want to be sure about the frame is whether or not it feels good. And by good I mean solid, sturdy, stable, and quiet. You don’t want a frame that wobbles and creaks and rattles all over the place. The frame on this machine is solid enough for me.
The Console has a touch screen display, a workout fan, a music port, built in speakers, Ifit live, 26 various workouts, a competition training center, and yada yada. Most of the basics.

There are no springs, air, shocks, pads, or anything else used for the cushioning. Just a belt on an advanced deck. It almost looks like a makeshift homemade machine, but the design works better than most out there. I like the 8500 more just because of the few extra features it offers, but it also costs more and it’s currently out of stock. But this one is practically the same thing.
The warranty offers lifetime coverage on the Frame and Motor, 2 years on parts, 1 year on labor.
