Choosing a treadmill online
When you compare treadmills, you will find that every model has unique features. The standard things to look at are the weight capacity, motor and treadbelt. Make sure the machine can support your weight. If you are a runner, look for at least 3 HP from your motor. If you are taller than six feet, make sure your treadbelt is 60″ long instead of 55″ like most treadmills seem to be.
There are plenty of nice extras on top of these standard features. Some treadmills come with a TV, some now even have a web browser. Each machine has its own bells and whistles like motion sensors, iFit live and other goodies. Simply look at their merits and decide if it is something you would enjoy. But again, the important things to consider are the weight capacity, motor and treadbelt. After that, just decide which features you want and go for it.
Choosing an elliptical online
Ellipticals, like treadmills, come with pretty standard features and some extras as well. The first thing you need to decide is if you want a front or rear drive elliptical. Rear drive has less moving parts and is usually quieter, so you have a more comfortable workout and less repair work. However, a front drive takes up a lot less space. It’s up to you which works for your home. Stride length is also important. If you are taller than six feet, you need at least a 21″ stride elliptical. If you share it, consider an adjustable stride machine. Weight capacity also comes into play with an elliptical. Make sure it can support you.
There are some extras here as well, the most common of which is adjustable motion. Most elliptical trainers move in one elliptical motion. Adjustable motion machines can change from an elliptical motion to more of a stair stepper motion. This helps workout other muscles and gives you a better workout. Other features would be ergonomic foot pedals, hand grip sensors, iFit live and more. Again, decide what looks good to you and just go for it.
