Hello and Good Morning. Here its raining outside.. a perfect time to write about the Treadmill of the day. The Golds Gym Maxx 685T. This may be a short review simply because I don’t know what to say about it that hasn’t been said about the other Golds Gyms. Their treadmills are so similar, it’s hard to write separate reviews about each one without saying the same things over and over.

Coming in at $524 the Golds Gym Maxx 685T is a budget and lightweight treadmill in every aspect. The first thing I recommend is to not pay attention to the 300 lb weight limit that it claims. I suppose you may be able to set 300 lbs on it and it would be fine. But Don’t get a 300 lb guy running and stomping on it. It is just too light for that. The deck would crack and the engine would get bogged down. The deck is protected for 90 days, so if you want to test out how much it can really hold, make sure to do it before that time limit is up. I wish we could push each treadmill til they break when we test them so that we could know how much they really hold, but that would just be a little too expensive. However, after the thousands of treadmills we’ve tested out, we can get a pretty good feel of how much they’ll hold without actually having to break them all. There are, however, still a few casualties now and then.

The motor is light and small with 2 horsepower. The belt is 20″ x 55″. With the thin belt and small rollers, the engine shouldn’t have too much trouble with a light person. It goes up to 10MPH and a 10% incline. When running on it, you can feel the vibration though the whole machine.

Now, on the good side. The treadmill as a whole is better than 90% of the other treadmills at this price. Treadmills at this price have to be used lightly or they just won’t hold up. That means light runners and light running or walking. The warranties say a lot about how long they expect their equipment to hold up. So if you want this treadmill to hold up longer than 90 days, don’t beat on it. If all you need is a basic treadmill with basic features and you don’t weigh much or run hard, you be able to enjoy this treadmill for a long time. But, if you weigh more, and run hard, you’ll just have to step it up to a heavier treadmill. Sorry that’s the way it goes.

Here’s what it’s got.

  • 2.0 CHP
  • 300 lbs weigh limit
  • 20″ x 55″ belt
  • 10% Incline
  • 10MPH
  • Cushioning
  • Green LED Display Screen
  • Dual Grip Heart Rate
  • Fold up design
  • Work out Fan
  • 12 built in workouts
  • warranty: 25 year motor, 90 day parts and labor

Anything else to say? Basically in case you missed it, the moral of the story is, if you’re light, go for this guy. It’s inexpensive, and it works. But only if you’re light. Otherwise you may run into some problems.

About My Treadmill Reviews

TreadmillMy treadmill reviews are both subjective and objective. They are objective in the sense that I will provide you with information about each machine, such as motor, weight capacity and other features. But they are subjective in the sense that I am really giving my opinion of each treadmill. You may agree or disagree with my opinion, but my hope is that my elliptical and treadmill reviews can be helpful to you in making a decision on what to buy. Remember that each review is just what I think. You can always check out Treadmill Doctor, Treadmill Review Guru or these other treadmill reviews if you want another opinion.
