Nordictrack Incline Trainer X5iThe NordicTrack Incline Trainer X5i

Ohiyo! Recently I reviewed the NoricTrack Incline Trainer X7i. The most popular Incline Trainer on the market. Now, today I want to review its little brother, the Nordictrack Incline Trainer X5i. The reason I want to review this as well, even though they’re almost the exact same, is because…Well, that’s just it, because they’re practically the same thing, yet the price difference is huge.

So much emphasis has been placed on the X7i, that everyone has practically forgotten about this X5i model. The X5i is about $1,400 while the X7i is around $2000. What’s the difference between the two?

Well, as far as parts and materials and design, they’re practically identical. The Motor on the X5i is quite a bit smaller (2.25CHP vs 3.0CHP), which is the main difference between the two. However, on both, the motors are covered by a lifetime warranty. The warranties on the two are the exact same. Lifetime on frame and motor, 1 year on parts and labor.

Other than the motor, the 2 have only minor differences. The treadbelt has a full 20″ x 55″ walking area, which gives plenty of room for incline training, or just regular treadmill running. The weight capacity of the X5i is 300lbs vs the 350lbs of the X7i. The display screen of the X5i isn’t quite as fancy. The speed can only reach 10MPH rather than 12MPH, and the decline goes only to -3% vs the X7i’s -6%. Other than that, the only real difference is the price.

here’s some more of the specs:

  • 2.25 CHP Motor
  • 300 lb weight limit
  • 10MPH
  • 40% incline
  • -3% decline
  • backlit graphical display
  • Ifit Live
  • Workout Fan
  • Ipod/Mp3 Connection w/Built in speakers
  • Warranty: lifetime frame and motor, 1 year parts and labor

If you’d like an incline trainer, and don’t need it to be extra fancy, this is a perfect affordable choice that Nordictrack offers. This is definitely the best value of the 3 Incliners. The X5i is only $100 more than the X3, and it has enough upgrades to easily make it worth it. But the extra jump to the X7i is only worth it if you really need a strong motor with more fancy gadgets. If your fine with the basics, the Nordictrack X5i is what I would recommend.

About My Treadmill Reviews

TreadmillMy treadmill reviews are both subjective and objective. They are objective in the sense that I will provide you with information about each machine, such as motor, weight capacity and other features. But they are subjective in the sense that I am really giving my opinion of each treadmill. You may agree or disagree with my opinion, but my hope is that my elliptical and treadmill reviews can be helpful to you in making a decision on what to buy. Remember that each review is just what I think. You can always check out Treadmill Doctor, Treadmill Review Guru or these other treadmill reviews if you want another opinion.
