Proform Performance 1450 compared to Sole F80

Back to back today we’ve got the Proform Performance 1450 and the Sole F80.

This will be a showdown to remember. You all know how much I like Sole treadmills, particularly the F80. However, let’s see how it fares when pitted up against the Current Best Buy Winner, the Proform Performance 1450…

There are many reasons the Proform Performance 1450 is the current Best Buy Winner between $1000 – $2000. The fact that it lives up to every expectation I would put on an expensive $2500 and beyond unit is one reason. The fact that it is currently one of the top selling treadmills in the industry, and one of the highest rated by consumers and critics alike is another. Sole, however, does have a standing in this battle. Let’s pull them apart and see who wins and why.

The Proform Performance 1450 has a 3.25 CHP motor, which isn’t exceptionally large, but is well built and has a great self-cooling design that makes it a high quality motor. Perhaps the smaller motor is one reason Proform is able to price this treadmill so low. The Sole, however, has an even smaller motor than the Proform. The Sole F80 has a 3.0 CHP motor, which is somewhat smaller than what you can easily find at this price range. Sole has great quality motors as well, and I wouldn’t say either is better or worse than the other. Neither will be spitting fire at you anytime soon. Both are quiet and smooth, and have lifetime warranties on them.

The Proform and the Sole both have a proclaimed weight capacity of 350 lbs. Both feel strong and grounded. Both offer a lifetime warranty on the Frame and Motor, but Sole comes in with a Lifetime Warranty on their Deck as well. This is a great addition to the F80’s warranty, while Proform’s deck is included in its 5 year parts warranty. On the deck, both have a full 20″ x 60″ 2 ply belt.

The extra functionality and Technology is where Proform takes over. Both reach up to 12MPH and 15% Incline. The Proform Proshox Plus Cushioning is more effective than the Sole’s Cushion Flex Shock Absorption System. The Console on the Proform is what takes the cake. The 10″ touch screen web browser display is amazing, as well as the quick incline and speed, and the entire interface is slick and very user friendly. The sole uses a blue backlit LED display with a racetrack display and your stats. Definitely not as exciting as the Proform Console. Proform also offers Ifit live built in which connects to the internet and offers you an awesome variety of new function and programs that you can do with your treadmill. Sole doesn’t offer any sort of tracking or any connection to the internet. The Proform offers 26 built in workouts compared to Sole’s 6. Both have built in speakers and Ipod/Mp3 Docks, and workout fans.

It’s actually somewhat of a close game. The Performance 1450 is the winner for the fact that it offers much more. While quality of materials and design is the close to the same, the Proform is somewhat sturdier, and larger, and yet still offers more as far as functionality and technology go. The Proform is too impressive to pass up, and while the Sole F80 is great, It doesn’t quite live up to the Proform Performacne 1450.
