Proform Performance 600 vs. Horizon T202

Get ready for a faceoff today between the Proform Performance 600 and the Horizon T202.

Okay, it looks like Horizon is getting another chance against a Proform today. Let’s see how they do. Don’t just jump to the conclusion that Proforms are always better just because they’ve won every time in the past. The Horizon may have something to offer. Both this Proform and this horizon in particular have best buy badges pinned to their shoulders, so there must be something good about them both. Anyway, let’s jump in.

The Proform Performance 600: Rated best buy by consumer magazine. The treadmill costs $799 on sale. It’s one of Proform’s lowest priced treadmills. The Engine is a decent 2.5 CHP “Mach Z Commercial Pro Motor.” Sounds Fancy huh? Don’t get too excited about it, it’s just a 2.5 CHP motor. Nothing less or more, other than a nice cooling system. I don’t think you would want the treadmill to go into mach speeds anyway, that would be a bit too much of a workout for me. The motor of the Horizon is pretty much the same thing. The Horizon T202’s motor is a bit quieter than the Proform’s, it’s the same size, and both are covered by a lifetime warranty, and both are able to handle about the same amount, so I would choose the Horizon motor between the two.

The weight capacity of both are the same. They both claim they can hold up to 325 lbs maximum. I get a stronger and more stable feeling from the Proform. Neither have welded frames, and both use a lot of plastic and light materials to get the price down for us. Fortunately the frames are both covered for life as well, so if anything on them breaks it will be replaced. I’m definitely into the strong, grounded, stable treadmills, but you need to spend more if you want a real strong one.

Both the treadmills have a 20″ x 55″ treadbelt, 12% Incline, and 12MPH. Pretty much what you should have learned from this review so far is that these treadmills are very similar when it comes to specifications. Although Horizon is designed by Johnson Health, and Proform is designed by Icon, both of these are strikingly similar. Although Icon has its weaknesses, one thing they are good at is their extra features. Usually their treadmills will beat other manufacturer’s features. More particularly, most of their treadmills come with Ifit Live built in, or at least compatibility. It makes sense since Icon manufactures Ifit as well. Both treadmills fold-up, both have a fan, heart rate sensor, small LED displays, a bunch of built in workouts, and a music port with built in speakers. The proform is Ifit compatible, and the Horizon is not.

Well, sorry Horizon, but it looks like the Proform won again. It was closer this time, but the Proform has a better warranty, and offers more functionality, and a little more stability. Proform Wins!
