Today’s treadmill showoff is going to be a between the Gold’s Gym Crosswalk 570 and the Horizon T101.

Oh boy..This is going to be an exciting comparison today. If you’ve read from my other reviews, You’ll know how much I absolutely love treadmills this cheap. Not.
These treadmills might or might not be good treadmills for their price, but regardless, I’m going to have to hold my tongue back to keep from comparing it to what I feel is a standard solid machine worthy to be called a usable adult home treadmill. I will try to make sure to compare them to eachother, and not to more expensive units.

Gold’s Gym is manufactured by Icon Fitness, the same company the makes Nordictrack, Proform, Freemotion, Healthrider, Epic, and many other popular models. Gold’s Gym is their cheapest brand besides Weslo, and they’ve become good at making inexpensive models that still work. Gold’s Gym treadmills are often coined as “starter” or “entry level” treadmills. Basically this is another way of saying that these treadmills aren’t going to hold up well to a lot of running. It means if you get this treadmill you need to ‘take it easy’ or something will likely go wrong. The Gold’s Gym Crosswalk 570 has a 2.25 CHP motor which has a 25 year warranty on it. The motor is smaller than I would comfortably get, but it’s decent when compared to many motors at this price range. Both of these treadmills are on sale for $599, and at that price, I suppose I could say this isn’t bad. It has a 20″ x 55″ treadbelt to push, which is close to full sized. The Horizon T101 is almost the exact same. The Motor is 2.25 CHP, and the treadbelt is 20″ x 55″. Which is better? The Horizon Motor is better, it has a better design, it stays cooler, and has lower RPMs. It has a lifetime warranty on it, which is pretty much the same as the Gold’s Gym’s 25 year. If either of these treadmills were to last over 25 years I would be flabbergasted with surprise.

The Horizon T101 has a 300 lb weight limit, as well as the Gold’s Gym Crosswalk 570. That is a decent weight limit at this price. A lot of more expensive treadmills have lower weight capacities than this. The Horizon T101 has a better cushioning system than the Gold’s Gym, and feels a bit more solid overall. Both treadmills won a best buy award by consumer magazine. Both treadmills go up to 10% Incline and 10 MPH max speed.

Here’s a little comparison table:

Honestly, I don’t have an answer for which of these treadmills is better. If I had to buy one I would likely buy the Horizon, but that’s mostly because I like dealing with Horizon more.

About My Treadmill Reviews

TreadmillMy treadmill reviews are both subjective and objective. They are objective in the sense that I will provide you with information about each machine, such as motor, weight capacity and other features. But they are subjective in the sense that I am really giving my opinion of each treadmill. You may agree or disagree with my opinion, but my hope is that my elliptical and treadmill reviews can be helpful to you in making a decision on what to buy. Remember that each review is just what I think. You can always check out Treadmill Doctor, Treadmill Review Guru or these other treadmill reviews if you want another opinion.
