Nordictrack Elite 9700 Pro compared to Freemotion t5.8

Today’s round is between the Nordictrack Elite 9700 Pro and the Freemotion T5.8.

These two treadmills are actually out of the $2,999 price range, but I figured I would include them anyways since they are very relevant to the tournament. The Nordictrack Elite 9700 pro costs $3,299 while the Freemotion T5.8 costs $3,499. For this price you want to make sure that what you’re getting is exceedingly fine, because there is serious competition when you get up to mid $3,000’s, and you can find some incredible treadmills. So just make sure you don’t settle for less than you could get.

Freemotion excels in their commercial club treadmills, and the T5.8 design is similar to their t11.4, only it costs about half the price. It’s almost an in-between for the home models and the commercial models. The problem is, the competition outweighs it at this price in almost every aspect. The Elite 9700 Pro is Nordictrack’s most prized and expensive model. They spared no expenses designing this machine to be the most high-end, high quality treadmill of home treadmills.

The Motor on the Freemotion is 3.0 CHP. The Motor on the Nordictrack is 4.0 CHP. I’m not exactly sure why the Freemotion t5.8 has such a small motor. Even their least expensive treadmill, the Freemotion 750 has a bigger motor than this one. And it’s not like the t5.8 motor is exceptional quality either, it’s just small. Can’t quite figure it out. The capacity of the Freemotion is 350lbs, while the Nordictrack is 375 lbs. The Nordictrack feels much more solid than the freemotion in strength, solidness, and quietness.

The Nordictrack and Freemotion both have a 22″ x 60″ 2ply treadbelt which is great. They both reach up to 15% incline, except the Nordictrack can also reach 3% decline. I think the Elite 9700 is pretty well the winner already but we’ll keep going. The warranty on both are about the same. The Freemotion offers Lifetime on Frame and Deck, 20 years on the motor, 7 years on parts, and 2 years on motor. The Nordictrack offers lifetime on frame and motor, 7 years on parts and 2 years on motor. The Deck warranty on the Freemotion is a great addition to the warranty, but I’m not sure why they limited the motor to 20 years.

Let’s get into the extra features. This is where the Freemotion halts, and the Nordictrack rushes past. The console of the Freemotion includes a small green display that shows distance, speed, incline, time, calories, calories per hour, mets, and pulse. It allows for an Ifit SD card slot as well. The Nordictrack has a 10″ full color touch screen web browser display which wirelessly connects to Ifit. As far as technology goes, this is one of the most advanced consoles in the market.

The Nordictrack Elite offers everything anyone would ever want on a home treadmill with all the features and functionality up to date with technology. The Freemotion T5.8 is an average treadmill, thrown way out of its price class. It looks like the Nordictrack Elite 9700 Pro takes the victory on this round.
