Yowza Keewadin vs. Proform Performance 1450

Read Other Treadmills

The first competitors for the 2nd round are the Yowza Keewadin and the Proform Performance 1450.

Well, here we go with the first contestants of round two. The Proform Performance 1450 is around $1,499, and the Yowza Keewadin is $1,699. They both beat their last competitors, so let’s do this.

The Proform Performance 1450 is currently Proform’s top selling treadmill, and probably for good reason. It’s a full package deal. All the quality, strength, and cool features combined into one, and priced low. Makes for pretty good competition. The Yowza Keewadin on the other hand, is not as well known, and doesn’t have quite as fancy features, but when it comes to the quality and performance of the machine, it puts up a good fight. The motor of the Yowza is a bit smaller than the Proform, specified at 3.0 Chp compared to the Proform’s 3.25 CHP. However, Yowza is known for having some of the most beautifully designed motors, and so the extra quality that is put into the Yowza Motors makes up for the 1/4 horsepower that it may lack. So, as far as motor goes, I would put them on an equal standing.

The Yowza Keewadin and the Proform Performance 1450 both have a full sized 20″ x 60″ treadbelt, which is one of their many perks. The swing-arm for the Yowza is an excellent cushioning system which uses a little weighted lever that lets the deck budge down a bit each time you land on it, and then pops back up when you lift off it. The Proform uses air cushion shocks, which are a bit less innovative, but has worked okay for years. I wouldn’t say one or the other works better. Different people have different preferences on which feels better. You just need to know they both work well.

Both treadmill have a weight capacity of 350 lbs which is good. The frames are solid and grounded. You don’t get a cheap rickety feeling when you run on them, which is always a good sign. The consoles are where the two treadmills start to look quite a bit different. Yowza does a good job at making their treadmills look advanced, but the consoles themselves don’t actually have much to them. They offer some different exercise programs, and memory slots, but that’s it. The screen is just a tiny orange LED display that shows you a few numbers. The proform on the other hand gives you a 10″ full color touch screen display that lets you browse the web on it. That’s quite a difference. It also has Ifit Live built in so you can run any trail in the world with Google Maps. Ifit lets you track your progress and do a whole lot of things to get you more motivated to exercise. Using Ifit live myself, I am sold on it. I haven’t figured out why every treadmill company hasn’t started using it. Ifit Live and a web browser display earn a treadmill some good points with me.

Here’s a little comparison table:

The Proform Performance 1450 is the winner of these two treadmills. It costs less, and offers more. Both are high quality, the Yowza Keewadin costs more, and still doesn’t quite offer what the Proform Performance 1450 offers.

About My Treadmill Reviews

TreadmillMy treadmill reviews are both subjective and objective. They are objective in the sense that I will provide you with information about each machine, such as motor, weight capacity and other features. But they are subjective in the sense that I am really giving my opinion of each treadmill. You may agree or disagree with my opinion, but my hope is that my elliptical and treadmill reviews can be helpful to you in making a decision on what to buy. Remember that each review is just what I think. You can always check out Treadmill Doctor, Treadmill Review Guru or these other treadmill reviews if you want another opinion.
